Growing up riding horses, we developed a profound appreciation for their grace, strength, and the remarkable bond that can be formed between horse and rider. This lifelong connection inspired us to establish an equestrian center that would not only provide exceptional equestrian services but also cultivate a warm, welcoming community of horse enthusiasts.

Meet the Team

  • Owner & Principal Trainer

    Lindsay Hafer is a Penn State Graduate with a BS in Crime, Law & Justice & a Minor in Equine Science. She has been an avid horsewoman for over 30 years. Lindsay has 20 plus years of experience in equine facility management, training & mounted instruction. Standing Ovation Equestrian Center LLC has been the proud hosting farm of Penn State Dressage since the year 2010, with Lindsay serving as the head coach.

    Lindsay Hafer is a United States Pony Club graduate and has her HA Pony Club Rating/Certification. She has competed extensively at "A" & "AA" Rated Hunter/Jumper Shows and has experience thru Preliminary Level Eventing. Lindsay has her USDF Silver Medal and is working towards her USDF Gold Medal; she regularly competes at USDF Rated competitions through 4th Level, on a variety of horses.

    Lindsay achieved her Silver Medal through the training process of a client-owned Fresian gelding named Titus. He was started as "green broke" at the age of 8 and together they have worked up through the levels of FEI/Prix Saint Georges dressage.

    In 2012, Lindsay received the ProChaps/USEA Young Riders' Instructor Recognition Award; recognition for outstanding contribution, tenacity, and teaching/instructing, with regard to unmounted & mounted instruction. Lindsay's students participate in IEA, IDA (Penn State Dressage Intercollegiate) and United States Pony Club. Additionally, her students actively compete in both Rated & Unrated Competitions, including Rated Horse Trials, Rated Hunter/Jumper Shows, and Rated Dressage Shows.

    Throughout Lindsay's many years as a Trainer & Riding Instructor, her students & the horses under her guidance, boast huge success, consistent performance & accomplishment.

  • Owner & Barn Manager

    As the owner and facility manager, Adam plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the center and the well-being of all its inhabitants. With his expertise in horse management and care, he has built a reputation as a trusted authority in the equestrian community.

    As the overseer of the facilities, Adam takes great pride in maintaining a top-notch environment for both horses and riders. From coordinating the barn staff to managing the day-to-day operations, he ensures that every aspect of the center runs seamlessly.

    While Adam may have retired from riding himself, his love for horses continues to thrive. He wholeheartedly supports his two daughters as they embark on their own equestrian journeys, with his wife and co-owner of the center, Lindsay Hafer, acting as their coach. Adam understands the value of family bonds in the equestrian world and takes immense joy in witnessing his daughters' growth and accomplishments.

    Beyond his operational responsibilities, Adam brings a unique flavor to the barn culture at Standing Ovation. With his vibrant sense of humor and infectious laughter, he adds a touch of comedy to the daily routines. Whether you need a good laugh or an interesting perspective on the world, Adam is always there ready to chat.

  • The Not-So-Silent Partners

    Arabelle and Ashlyn Armstrong, are the spirited daughters of Lindsay Hafer and Adam Armstrong. These two capture the hearts of everyone at Standing Ovation Equestrian Center with their contagious enthusiasm and unwavering love for horses.

    Arabelle, the elder of the two, shines brightly as a talented rider in her own right. With a kind and nurturing spirit, Arabelle is always ready to offer advice and lend a helping hand to her fellow riders. Her knowledge and passion for horses make her a remarkable mentor, even at such a young age. As a ring leader among the group of kids that frequent the barn, Arabelle ensures that everyone feels included and motivated to pursue their own goals.

    Ashlyn, the younger sister, brings an endless sense of wonder and joy to the barn community. Often found toddling around, she adds a touch of magic to every corner of the facility. Ashlyn's curiosity leads her to explore the farm, looking for companions to embark on adventures with her. Her cheerful presence and eagerness to learn bring smiles to the faces of all who encounter her. She can be seen embarking on her own riding journey atop Spice and Violet.

    Together, Arabelle and Ashlyn exemplify the essence of family at Standing Ovation. Their presence reminds us all that equestrian pursuits are not merely individual endeavors but a shared passion that brings people together. The barn community thrives on the bonds of friendship and support, fostered by the Armstrong family.
